TRAIL SAFETY

Volcanic ground, clear rules.

Weather, wildlife and visibility change: the volcano is visible in favorable conditions only.

On the trail

  • Stay on the marked trails and heed the "High Difficulty" signs. Lava 1535 is technical terrain, so assess your fitness before continuing.
  • Wear closed shoes with grip: all three trails are natural volcanic ground and none is wheelchair-accessible.
  • Arrive within your entry block so you finish before the park closes at 17:00.

Park rules

  • Dogs are welcome on a leash at all times (muzzle for large breeds), and owners pick up after them, to keep the trails safe for wildlife and other visitors.
  • Do not take, damage or bring plants or animals, and do not feed wildlife: animals that learn to expect food change their behavior.
  • No speakers or loud music. Sound is part of what you came to hear.
  • What you bring in, you take out.
  • 100% smoke-free, vapes included, to protect the forest and the air other visitors breathe.
